Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

31st August is one of the important dates for Malaysian. 51 years ago, it was the day when Union Jack was replaced with Malaysian flag. [In 1997, Tun Dr.M the then prime minister renamed the Malaysian flag as Jalur Gemilang]. Malaysian gained the independence through ahimsa way. Our past leaders won the independence with out any single drop of blood. The only tool used was “unity.” We gain our independence through the power of unity. Malay, Chinese and Indians stand united and demand for the freedom from the colonialist. After 51 years although the country remains independence yet we are not united as our grandparents. [More need to be done to strengthen our unity]
This year celebration was duller compared to the past. Capital city is out of the flags and citizens are not bothered to fly one either at home or on their cars. May be people want to sent a message to a government, most probably dissenting messages but then I don’t agreed at all when a blogger suggested to fly the Jalur Gemilang upside down. Jalur Gemilang is the symbols of our independence and sovereignty and for what ever reason we should not let it down.
We should put our differences aside and celebrate the day as a gratitude and kind of appreciation to our grandparents who have struggled for the independence. They want the freedom from colonialist not for their personnel gain but to prepare the independence land for future Malaysian. We shall say thank you for their forward looking vision and now it’s our responsibility to make sure the independence and sovereignty of the country remain for our future generations.
I wish all the visitors to my blog either Malaysian or non-Malaysian;
MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA!
