P36 Kuala Terengganu

[edited 21:39 / 17012009] [PAS win the seat with bigger majority] It's a decision day in P36-Kuala Terengganu by-election. This election is very important and the out come of the result will be a yardstick to evaluate the performance of both parties (BN & PR) after the GE 2008. Just to recap, in GE2008 the late Datuk Razali Ismail (BN) gained 32,562 votes, Mohamad Sabu (Pas) 31,934 votes and granny Maimun Yusof (independent) received 685 votes. BN win with the majority 628 votes. The majority was slashed more than half compared with 2004 GE. In 2004 GE, BN win with the majority 1,933 votes. Both parties was given ample time to campaign, offcially 10 days and unofficially more than a month to explain about their capability to represent the constituency. Even though BN represent the constituency previously, it's was still considered as "not a safe zone" since the majority was reduced hugely and 3 out of 4 state seat was captured by Pas. My source said it's hard time for the incumbent party to retain the seat since the voters feel, the rulling party so far failed to read the 2008 GE signal. Definitely by now people have made their mind to whom to vote. The result will be announced by 22:30 and then we will know which party in trouble. Win or lost, we must respect the people's decision and it's part of true democracy game.

Thanks for your words, I will take it as a complimentary for my blog. I believe on "Rule of Law" and frankly speaking, a legitimate government should come from the people's power and not by the party hopping. Eventhough PR win big number of votes but the reality was BN still manage to secured the majority to govern the country. Let it be as it is. I believe PR shall wait until the next 13th GE rather than taking over the federal government in between. Well that is my hope but I don't deny the reality that party hopping will happen any time especially after the Umno election in Mac. Will write about it if time permit me to sit down to do some research. Until then please make a frequent visit to my blog.
