Abdul Basir Latip - Abu Sayyaf co-founder Nabbed

Abdul Basir Latip the suspected co-founders of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) based in Southern Philippines had been detained at Jakarta airport for using a fake travelling document. Source said he was picked up by Indonesian authorities on 21 November 2009 and deported back to Manila. Abdul Basir was identified as a fund manager between Al-Qaeda and Abu Sayaff. United States was keen to extradite him as main suspect to kidnap American missionary Charles Walton in 1993. However, Abdul Basir said "I was not a member of the ASG but I am a close friend of Janjalani."
