Ideology and Politics

What motivates terrorism? Sound simple and easy but one of the most impossible questions to get the accurate answer. The answer might not necessary apply to the rise of the new terrorism but vary according to country and community. Generally speaking "Ideology" and "Politics" played a crucial role to motivate terrorism. "Poverty" might be another reason but then the impact of poverty shall not necessarily driven people to be a terrorist. Al-Qaeda starts to build its ideology from Maktab al-Khidamat (MAK) in 1984. MAK was a service centre cum recruit office for the mujahideen’s against the Soviet Union forces. The centre was administered by Palestinian scholar Abdullah Azzam and financed by Osama Bin Laden. Other than recruitment, the centre did offered the “political Islam” classes to new recruit. Doctrinarian on violence strategy has started from here. Osama breakaway from Abdullah in the late 1980’s and joins with Egyptian known as Ayman al-Zawahiri, present second man in command for Al-Qaeda. Zawahiri preach for “offensive jihad” in contrast to Abdullah. He developed the radicalization process by advocating the anti-Americanism. The new partners established “Advisory and Reformation Committee” as an operational bureau in London. The bureau was a political wing of the group. A series of leaflets addressing political issues such as presence of American force in Arabian land, detention of religious leader in Saudi Arabia, civil war in Yemen and the Palestinian-Israel conflict was discussed from religion perspective to persuade the “Offensive Jihad” as the only option to fight the enemy. It was part of the doctrinarian strategy too. I don’t need to elaborate much on the rise of Al-Qaeda from ideology and political perspective. Generally I have put a facts on how Al-Qaeda has emerged and the reason on why the recruitment process has become easier for them. Although the majority of Middle East community think rationally but the minority in Al-Qaeda has bring a great disaster to the world security. The innocents have become the victims of cruelty.
