Beijing Trying To Contain Singapore?

The Malaysian Insight reported that Beijing will offer Putrajaya advanced rocket launchers and a radar system to be based in Johor with low-interest offer for 50 years. It seems, up to 12 units of the AR3 multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) with a top range of 220km is in the list of offer.

It is an open secret that China and Singapore are not in a good chapter as in the past. Singapore was seen as the United States mouthpiece in Southeast Asia and has made a firm stand on South China Sea issue. These did not go down well with political masters in Beijing.

Despite Singapore strong economy posture, Beijing is of the opinion that this tiny island is the one who need Beijing's aid and not other-way around. Beijing also believe that Singapore which have strong Chinese population should have more stronger connection with motherland rather than the United States. The already soured relationship between two countries were inflamed with Singapore-Taiwan military training conducted recently in Taiwan. As a way of protest Beijing through its port in Hong Kong had delayed releasing military consignments with Singapore's military assets shipment back to Singapore after training.

Screening and analyzing this issues from the neutral platform, one will conclude that Beijing is trying their level best to contain Singapore through Putrajaya.
