Elie Cohen

In 1962, Egytian-born Elie Cohen (1924-65) began spying for Israel in Syria, posing a wealthy Syrian businessman. He infiltrated Syrian society and used the contacts he made to gather intelligence. Cohen passed information about the Syrian armed forces by radio to Israel but his frequent and predictable transmission schedule led to his detection by RDF equipment. He was tried and publicly hanged in 1965. [extracted from Ultimate Spy]
