Nurjaman Riduan Isamuddin @ Hambali

Riduan Bin Isomoddin@ Nurjaman Riduan Isamuddin or well known as Hambali was a mujahiden in Soviet-Afghanistan war and said has played an-active role in terrorism activity in 1990’s. He was born in Sukamanah, Barat Jaya in 1966 and was the eldest among 13 sibllings. He immigrated to Malaysia in 1985 for better employement. In 1988 he went to Afghanistan to joint the mujahiden army against Soviet invasion and back to Malaysia after two years. Then he continue his employement in ”pesantren” and was among the most influential man in mujahiden’s circle. He have played a major role to assist Bashir to form JI dan mastermind on strategising the attacks in South East Asia. Intelligence believe, he have planned the ”Project Bojinka” and to assasinate Pope during his visit to Phillipines. Hambali also have contributed on strategising the 9/11 attacks and coordinated the concurrent violence attacks in Indonesia dan Phillipines during 2000 Christmas. On 11 August, 2003, Hambali was detained in Ayutthaya by Thailand special force and later was hand over to CIA. Intelligence believed, Hambali present in Thailand was to collect the intelligence especially about the on-going civilian attacks in Southern Thailand and to recruit the new members. Other sources also said, Hambali was planning to attacks the capital city of Thailand, Bangkok. Currently Hambali is under detention at undiclosed location.
